How can terpenes influence us through food and beverage?

Retronasal olfaction is when aroma molecules (terpenes) from food and beverages are entrained to our olfactory receptors and in conjunction with gustation (taste) and olfaction (smell) create the flavors we perceive. Through this stimulation of our olfactory nerve, terpenes can influence us in a variety of ways!
